Junior MC Criteria & Application Process

The Memphis Challenge selects students of color who represent the top 10 percent of their junior class from charter, county, municipal, and private schools in Shelby County. Academic achievement, leadership abilities and interviewing skills are the basis for selection. The following criteria are necessary for consideration:
- Scholastic GPA of 3.5 or higher
- ACT score of at least 25 or a combined SAT score of 1500 (applies to senior applicants only)
- Recommendation by educator or community leader who can speak to the student’s potential (non-family member)
- Demonstrated leadership skills, and community service
- Written essay on select topics
Applicants to the program must be enthusiastic and dedicated students in pursuit of a successful college career and beyond.
After completing and submitting a Memphis Challenge application, qualified candidates are interviewed and notified by email & U.S. postal mail of our final decision.
